His current work is as the founder and director of the Philly Unknown Project, a non-profit working closely with the homeless as well as people in active addiction. He spends much of his time working the front lines of homelessness and addiction in Philadelphia, organizing community events and outreach initiatives. Featured in a docuseries by Voice of America called "The Damage Done: The Unwanted," bringing awareness of the opioid crisis to our communities, Britt hosts a radio talk show, “Be a Voice,” on USALA Radio and is the founder of the successful community-focused Instagram account, Philly Unknown. Tonight’s meeting is taking place as planned.
Due to the weather forecast, we will end the meeting at 8:30 p.m.

I wanted to know my story and in knowing my story maybe I know a little about yours.
— Bruce Springsteen

If you’ve been attending Sisters U meetings for a while you’ve heard us say many times, “Everyone has a story.” Sisters U is all about sharing our stories. We do this every month, through casual conversation, by hearing from our Sisters of the Month, and from our guest speakers.

We’re kicking off 2019 with a heightened focus on our stories and an eye on how they contribute to our legacy. How do you record your story? Journaling? Collecting mementos? Through photography? We all have different ways of approaching our stories. The good, bad, and the ugly are all worth sharing because they make up who we are as a whole. Our stories are ever-evolving as we grow and move forward. We can’t wait to hear from you.

Our Sister of the Month is Terri Dilinger. We know you’ll be inspired by her unique story.

September 2018 Monthly Meeting - A Safe & Healthy Community

Join us for our September 2018 meeting to learn more about the Stewards of Children® training. Grace Weaver of NOVA (Network of Victim Assistance) will share with us about this prevention training that teaches adults how to prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. We have many tools that we use to keep children safe; wearing a bike helmet, looking both ways before crossing the street, Band-Aids on scrapes etc.. What tools do we have to protect children from sexual abuse? 1 in 10 children will be sexually abused before their 18th birthday and 90% of children are abused by a person the family knows and trusts. This means that we need to shatter the myth of “stranger danger” to better protect our children. The good news is that a trained adult can protect an average of 10 children.

Wine Woo and Spirit Night

UPDATE - July 16, 2018:

The One-on-One Sessions
are completely booked.

Your ticket purchased July 16 and beyond
will still grant access to the three Group Sessions and closing Yoga Sound Bath.

Join us for an evening of connecting with self, spirit, and Sisters, while expanding your heart and mind. We have a variety of practitioners to share their practices with you in one-on-one sessions as well as group sessions.

We'll cap off the evening with a special Yoga Sound Bath presented by our neighbor across the street, Shine Yoga Center. (Bring a yoga mat (if you have one) and a beach towel or blanket.) The Perkasie Borough has graciously allowed us to close the street on our block and we're hoping to have the Sound Bath under the stars - and the full moon!

How do we sign up?

Below is a list of all the available practitioner sessions. When you click the "Buy Tickets" button, you'll be taken to our Eventbrite page, where you will pay for the event. After you buy your ticket, you'll be taken to the Eventbrite confirmation page. That page - on the right hand side of the page - will include a link to the Practitioner Selection Form, which you must visit to schedule your one-on-one sessions. Provide us with your first three selections; you will be placed in two of the sessions.

PLEASE NOTE: The number of one-on-one sessions is finite, so please purchase your tickets and make your selections ASAP. Sessions are first come, first-served, while openings remain. It is highly unlikely that attendees purchasing tickets at the door will have opportunity for a one-on-one session.

Reflexology is a gentle, non-invasive healing modality. By applying pressure to specific points on the foot that correspond to the different parts and systems of your body, reflexology calms the nervous system and allows your body to enter a relaxed state where recovery, repair and maintenance occur.

Reflexology creates a very calm, soothing feeling, as well as (but not limited to):

  • Reduced pain

  • Improved sleep
  • Improved digestion/elimination
  • Improved circulation
  • Improved lymphatic flow (toxin removal)
  • Improved immune function (get sick less!)

"MEET YOUR HIGHER SELF" MINDFULNESS MEDITATION with Shannon Funt

What if all of the answers you long for can be found within? Allow Shannon Funt to introduce you to your higher self - your intuition - your spirit. Your connection to the divine, to love, and to everything that ever is and ever was. She's your best coach. Your wisest self. Your biggest fan. And your source of unconditional love. And the best part is, you can talk to her whenever and wherever you want, because she lives within YOU. Join us as we learn to sit with our selves, quiet our mind/ego, and get to know our Higher Self.

Shannon is a magical mama and mindful maven, who empowers women and kids through meditation and intuitive coaching. After working in the Finance and Software Development Industries for 20 years, Shannon was inspired to leave in 2016 so she could (finally!) uncover her true purpose in life. Today, Shannon attributes the start of her 'awakening' to learning how to sit with herself, and uses everything she's learned (along with insights from her intuition) to help women create rapid change, connect to who they truly are, and learn how to live their lives with more joy, love, and intention.

Final Session

We’ll begin with a grounding and centering meditation as we lift our voices together in Chant. Next feel the dynamic vibration of the crystal singing bowl as we close with a Sound Bath Meditation.
