2019 Best Foot Forward: Connecting, Empowering, and Inspiring

Connect. Empower. Inspire. All of this and more took place at our annual Best Foot Forward: Empowering Women of All Ages Women’s Conference & Fundraiser on Saturday, April 6, 2019. Many thanks to our host site, Bucks County Community College – Upper Bucks Campus, for use of their beautiful facility.

The highlights of the evening included a keynote from WOGL 98.1 radio personality and Philadelphia radio icon Marilyn Russell, the presentation of the Empowered Woman of the Year award to Linda Reid, and the inaugural Sisters U Best Foot Forward Scholarship, awarded to Julianna Rotondo. Be sure to read more about all three of these amazing women in the Spring/Summer 2019 issue of U Magazine.

The Sisters U Best Foot Forward Scholarship was created to recognize a student attending Bucks County Community College Upper Bucks Campus or a member of Sisters U who has demonstrated initiative and leadership potential by putting their best foot forward in their community. The award for this scholarship is $500 toward a class at Bucks County Community College.

Thanks to all who attended, proceeds from the event totaled $5,103.67. In addition to funding the scholarship, these funds will be used to further Sisters U external programming, including the Launch Pad: Prepare for Success program held in conjunction with the Bucks County Community College Upper Bucks Campus.

Many thanks to our sponsors, attendees, speakers, breakout session presenters, vendors, raffle prize donors, committee members, and all the unsung heroes who make events like this hum. It takes everyone to make it such a special evening, including the amazing eye of Amy McDermott of Heart and Soul Portraits, who provided the event photography.

Best Foot Forward Raises $3,467.00

Nearly 100 women of all ages gathered on April 29, 2017, at the Upper Bucks Campus of Bucks County Community College to be inspired, learn something new, and have fun at Best Foot Forward, our annual major fundraising event. In addition to breakout sessions, vendors, and raffles, attendees were inspired by the life stories of keynote speaker, Jeane Coyle, president, and CEO of Penn Community Bank and Elina Fuhrman, chef and founder of Soupelina. The evening culminated in a fashion show presented by Frox, with many members of the community -- we recognized many friendly faces -- walking the runway as models.

The evening was a success based on the smiles on your faces alone, but there’s even more to celebrate as the proceeds from the event totaled $3,467.00. These funds will allow Launch Pad: Prepare for Success, a program presented by Sisters U in conjunction with Bucks County Community College’s Upper Bucks Campus to continue to be presented free of charge to all attendees. It is a six-module certificate program where local business experts lead sessions to provide students of all ages with skills to enhance their job searches and increase their potential for success in their professional endeavors.

For all of this, we thank YOU!

Special thanks to Amy McDermott of Heart and Soul Portraits for the incredible event photography and to Perkasie Florist for the gorgeous corsages for our volunteer team.
